On the Petersbergl between Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt you will find the Church of St. Peter , the oldest church in town. Because of its age its also called “Alter Peter” [Old Peter]. The first version of the church was built in 11th Century. Over the centuries the church has been rebuilt and expanded. This explains the different styles of art which can be found inside the church, including the magnificent gold altar from the 18th Century and the large ceiling frescoes.
You should definitely dare to climb to the viewing platform. 306 steps must be climbed for it, but you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the rooftops of Munich .
