From December 18th, 2010, until April 3rd, 2011, you can experience live exotic butterflies in the aquatic plants greenhouse number 4 of the glasshouse complex at the Botanical Garden. Accompanying exhibition in the „Grüner Saal“ (house 7): „Heimische Schmetterlings-Fauna“ (native butterfly fauna) compiled by the Zoologische Staatssammlung München [Bavarian State Collection of Zoology], artistically complemented by life-like paintings on glass by Christina Dichtl. (The Botanical Garden: Next to Schloss Nymphenburg [Nymphenburg Palace] you will find the new botanical garden (north of the gardens of Schloss Nymphenburg). The garden, one of the finest botanical gardens in Europe, was laid out 1909 - 1914. It covers 2 sq km (.75 sq mile) and contains over 15.000 species of plants. The worth seeing greenhouses shelter a stunning variety of plants (e. g. sensational tropical plants and cacti).
