Cirque Mechanics: Birdhouse Factory
Exclusive premiere in Germany at Deutsches Theater München

The Story:
There is probably no more unusual place to make circus as a factory. But that´s exactly the location Chris Lashua and Aloysia Gavre put the act of her show "Birdhouse Factory". The two former artists of the Cirque du Soleil were inspired by Charlie Chaplin's cult film "Modern Times", the cartoons of Rube Goldberg and the giant murals of Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
Great Artistry of keystone, of juggling and Rhönrad numbers are in "Birdhouse Factory" as well involved as a historically created story, which is based in the USA of the 30s:
An injured bird breaks the workers of a factory from its monotony. Together they rescue the injured animal and each is working hard to build the perfect "Bird House". The vision of modern circus entertainment is combined with a historical excursion into the past. "Intelligent thought and perfectly realized: Birdhouse Factory is excellent in a word," writes the New York Times. And the Spectacle Magazine's verdict: "The most important contribution of the American circus since Cirque du Soleil."
About the directors Chris Lashua and Aloysia Gavre:
The basis for Chris Lashuas career is his love of wheels. More than a decade he dominated many freestyle bike races. In the same year he joined the Cirque du Soleil. In 1996, he played in the program "Quidam" the opening number where he began to work simultaneously on a mechanical apparatus called "Trolley". The "Trolley" is a big wheel, like a hamster wheel, the artist works in the interior. Over the years he developed a type of gear shift. This work inspired him to develop other machines of this kind, which can interact with acrobats. Then Chris Lashua had the idea that the best setting for its machinery would be a factory - "Birdhouse Factory" was born!
Aloysia Gavre, Co-director, spent most of her life with movement, dance and circus. Her teaching years were spent with companies such as "Pilopolus", "The Tandy Beal Dance Company" and the "Zacho Dance Theatre.
