MUNICH: "MAE WEST" SCULPTURE

A "sex symbol" in Munich: On the Effnerplatz in Munich you will find the 52 meters high tower sculpture "Mae West" by artist Rita McBride. The sculpture is made of 32 carbon fiber reinforced plastic rods reminiscent of the forms of Hollywood Beauty Mae West (1893-1980), who celebrated in the 30's and 40's screen successes and became a famous sex symbol. With this sculpture the American sculptor Rita McBride (b. 1960) won Munich´s international art competition in 2002. The structure was built in January 2011 with great technical effort.
